In 2005
Lindon SAMM was established, after importing pure SAMM embryos
from WA. 300 embryos were implanted in 2005, with
our first pure Lindon SAMM genetics hitting the ground on
15th October 2005.
We implanted another 500 embryo’s
in three programs in March, April and May of 2006.
Valuable Outcross genetics were introduced in 2007 with the purchase of 105 Prime SAMM ewes plus a further 160 rams from a stud at Walcha. All rams and ewes were DNA tested to provide full pedigrees and have a MN3 (Ovine Johnes) disease-free status. These animals also have had added selection pressure added to them coming from a similar high rainfall area.
In February 2008, 48 of Lindon Samm's top ewes were flushed, yielding 350 transferable embryos. All the ewes have been joined to selected South African and Australian genetics and all the ewes flushed at Lindon are required to have a natural bare breech.
After a very successful inaugural ram sale in March 2008, we saw the need for more rams and breeding stock for future sales.
The focus on growing Lindon Samm has continued with the complete purchase of Langdene SAMM, Dunedoo, NSW in June 2008, comprising of 150 stud ewes and 30 ram lambs.
The investment of a second Prime SAMM stud brings valuable outcrosses from across Australia and South Africa.
This purchase will certainly build the numbers of our Stud to be a more sustainable size in our own right.

“It was obvious from the minute I laid eyes on the sheep that they had been bred and classed by a true sheep man.” “One of the typiest line of ewes I have seen, nothing extreme, just well balanced moderate, fertile looking ewes.” They are certainly fertile with one ewe dropping triplets the night they arrived “welcome to the New England, lambs”
2009 saw the whole Beynon clan venture off to Western Australia on annual holiday/sheep inspection tour. Checking out what is going on in the west is awlays beneficial as this is where the SAMM breed first entered Australia. On our travels over there we purchased a new future sire from Rockdale SAMM Dumbleyung. His tag number being Rockdale 080111.
We have subsequently had him DNA tested and WormSTAR tested only to be thrilled with what we have turned up, another 2 Star ram!! He should complement our flock with his style and balance.
While over in WA we also secured 3 outcross ewes from Sandown SAMM, Badgingarra. These three ewes are the direct result of pure South African embryos.
2009 saw the first all natural lambing. Scanning 147% in lamb, including maidens, the marking percentage slipped to 128% but a very pleasing result considering there was no supplementation and it is the 2nd dreist year on record.
Our sheep are not force fed, what you see is what you get. We really want to keep what the SAMM became famous for - its willingness to survive and do well in touch conditions.
Lindon Samm is the meat sheep of the future, and we are committed to continue supplying quality meat Merino genetics at commercially affordable prices.
